The PDO Thread Lift is a treatment which lifts and tightens sagging skin tissue, using threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO). The threads introduces them into the deeper layers of the skin. Once introduced, the threads produce 3 effects in the skin. PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are absorbable surgical sutures made from a material so safe that they were initially developed and approved for cardiac surgical repair procedures. What should I know before PDO treatments?

While thread lifts certainly produce visible changes, they will generally only lift the face by a few millimeters; as such, they create a more subtle and natural looking end result. Thread lifts are therefore best suited to patients who are dealing with mild to moderate, rather than severe, signs of skin laxity. Refrain from heavy exercise for 24 hours after procedure. Stop taking any blood thinners , fish oil, vitamin E, and anti-inflammatory ten days before treatment medication. Consult with your doctor before you stop any medications. Avoid alcohol and red wine three days before treatment. Eating fresh pineapple and taking arnica bromelain tablets 3-5 days before procedure can reduce the chance of bruising.

What to expect after PDO treatments?

Do not rub area that was treated. Slight bruising and redness are common side effect of PDO’S. These should resolve after a couple of days. Tylenol can be used for headaches and arnica tablets/creams can be used for bruising. asymmetry of the area and tissue is common and will resolve on their own. Call the office if any threads start to extrude, have increasing pain or nodules over the area.

Am I a candidate for PDO?

PDO’s are not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. . Some contraindications include, bleeding disorders, scarring tendency, inflammation of skin, and chemotherapy. We will help determine if this treatment is right for you at your consultation.

How long do PDO's take?

One of the best things about this treatment is it only takes 15 to 30 minutes. After that, you’re free to return to work or whatever else you had scheduled for the rest of your day.

What can I expect before treatment?

Before treatment starts, we will apply a topical numbing agent and local anesthetic to the treatment site. The needle used during this treatment is so fine it will not cause any pain. However, we provide anesthesia to ensure you feel no discomfort during the treatment.

What can I expect during treatment?

Once the anesthetic has taken effect, your treatment will begin. The PDO threads are inserted via blunt tip needles, called cannulas, or sharp-tipped needles. Once inserted into the appropriate layer of skin, they act as anchors as the skin is lifted upwards. Then, the excess threads are cut off

Are all PDO threads the same?

There are several types of PDO threads, and each serves its own unique purpose. Depending on your aesthetic goals, your PDO provider may use one or many thread types during your anti-aging treatment.
