The PDO Thread Lift is a treatment which lifts and tightens sagging skin tissue, using threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO). The threads introduces them into the deeper layers of the skin. What should I know before PDO treatments?

While thread lifts certainly produce visible changes, they will generally only lift the face by a few millimeters; as such, they create a more subtle and natural looking end result. Thread lifts are therefore best suited to patients who are dealing with mild to moderate, rather than severe, signs of skin laxity. Refrain from heavy excercies for 24 hours after procedure. Stop taking any blood thinners , fish oil, vitamin e, and anti-inflammatory ten days before treatment medication. Avoid alcohol and red wine four day before treatment. Eat a half fresh pineapple or take bromelin tablets four days before procedure. Consult with your doctor before you stop any medications.

What to expect after PDO treatments?

Do not rub area that was treated. Slight bruising and redness are uncommon side effect of PDO’S. These should resolve after a couple of days. Tylenol can be used for headaches and arnica tablets/creams can be used for bruising. asymmtry of the area and tissue is common and will resolve on their own. Call the office if any threads start to extrude, have increasing pain or nudules over the area.

Am I a candidate for PDO?

PDO’s are not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. . Some contraindications include, bleeding disdorders, scaring tendency, inflammation of skin, and patients on chemotherapy are the most common. We will help determine if this treamentt is for you at your consultation.

Before treatment starts, we will apply a topical numbing agent and local anesthetic to the treatment site. The needle used during this treatment is so fine it will not cause any pain. However, we provide anesthesia to ensure you feel no discomfort during the treatment.

What Can I Expect During Treatment?
Once the anesthetic has taken effect, your treatment will begin. The PDO threads are inserted via blunt tip needles, called cannulas, or sharp-tipped needles. Once inserted into the appropriate layer of skin, they act as anchors as the skin is lifted upwards. Then, the excess threads are cut off.
