How does Resurfx work?

The ResurFX fractional laser is a state-of-the-art, non-ablative, skin resurfacing technology. ResurFX fractional laser stimulates the production of new collagen and elastic fibers in the deeper layers of the skin. Stimulating new collagen production is the key to a more radiant, youthful looking skin.

How can Resurfx help me?

ResurFX is completed as a series of treatments. Because it is a limited downtime procedure, it usually requires multiple treatments for significant and meaningful results. Typically, at least 3-4 treatments about one month apart are necessary to obtain optimum results, although this varies by the individual and their goal.

What should I know before Resurfx treatments?

Please avoid use of make-up or lotions the day of your treatment. Sunburned skin cannot be treated. Avoid irritants to the treatment area, such as bleaching creams, retinols, retinA, glycolic acid, or salicylic acids 3 days prior to appointment. Please let us know prior to your appointment if you are taking any new medications that make you photosensitive.

What to expect after Resurfx treatments?

You will feel like you have a sunburn after treatment. To soothe skin you are able to use aloe and ice packs . Avoid lotions or products for 4 hours post treatment. To achieve the best results complete the full treatment schedule recommended.

What is ResurFX laser treatment like?

ResurFX is a fast and easy treatment. A typical facial treatment takes less than 15 minutes to complete. Topical numbing will be administered 25 minutes prior to treatment.

Is there any downtime with ResurFX treatment?

The downtime for a ResurFX treatment is minimal. For a typical treatment with this laser, skin is mildly swollen for 1 to 2 days, and mildly red for 3-5 days. You are able to apply makeup 24 hours after treatment.

What is the difference between an ablative and non-ablative resurfacing treatment?

An ablative resurfacing treatment ablates, or removes, the top layer of the skin. A non-ablative treatment works deeper below the skin to heat up the underlying tissues increasing collagen and elastin production from below.

How long does ResurFX last?

In theory the effects are permanent but since we continue to age, move our faces, and go out into the sun the effects are most noticeable within the first 2 years. For scar treatments, the effects are permanent but if your scar is in an area that will continue to stretch or grow with time additional treatments may be needed.

Will ResurFX help tighten my skin?

Yes! It works deep into the skin to increase collagen production and tighten the skin.

Can you do ResurFX with IPL?

Absolutely and usually this is how you will get the BEST result. IPL treats the pigment such as redness, scars or brown spots and the ResurFX can remodel the underlying tissue beneath the discoloration.
